Monday Madness

1st Monday of every month for the year of 2024 between 9am and 12 o clock is free. All equipment needs to be back with us at TCKH at 12 o'clock. This does not include Oxfordshire school holidays and bank holidays. All we ask for is a little donation for our chosen charity.

For the truly intrepid explorer

For the truly intrepid explorer, we are happy to provide canoe and kayak hire for full-day, weekend and week-long hires… Just stow your camping gear in the boat and take off.

Delivery to and collection from off-site points is subject to a few considerations and would need to be agreed upon in advance. Locations must be suitable to allow us to get a vehicle to the site. Most delivery/collection points are on the South Oxford Canal or on the Thames. For delivery or collection from sites further away, there may be additional fees.

We have several options for longer trips:

You can start from Thrupp, Kidlington and travel outwards on the canal north towards Banbury or south towards Oxford. You can then turn around and come back to Thrupp. No additional charges.

Pick-up / Collection service

We can offer a pick up and / or collection service. These trips must be booked at least 72 hours in advance.

Options Available:

  • You can start from Thrupp, Kidlington and travel outwards on the canal north towards Banbury or south towards Oxford. We can then collect the vessels from a final agreed destination point. Additional £75.00 one-way collection charge.
  • We can drop the vessels at an agreed delivery point and you can make your way back to Thrupp. Additional £75.00 one-way delivery charge.
  • We can drop the vessels at an agreed delivery point and you can paddle to a final agreed destination point, where we can collect you. Additional £75.00 one-way delivery charge and additional £75.00 one-way collection charge.

For all trips involving an extra charge, bookings must be made at least 72 hours in advance. Payment is due on booking or at least 5 days before your trip. A refundable deposit of £100 per vessel is also charged (payable on booking or at least 5 days before your trip). This will be returned to you when the vessels are returned in good order. We provide paddles and buoyancy aids and have dry bags for hire.

The vessels will remain your responsibility at all times during your trip and cannot be left unattended i.e. left on the side of the canal whilst you pop to the pub!

Organising your accommodation is a good starting point when planning your route down the South Oxfordshire Canal or River Thames. Below are some links to websites where you can get information on where to camp or find a hotel or B&B along the way.

Please note that you will need to book your accommodation directly with the hotel, B&B or campsite.
